Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods Profile

Eldrick Tont “Tiger” Woods is an American professional golfer and is regarded as one of the most famous and successful athletes in history.

Within one year of turning professional in 1996, Woods had already won the Masters, three PGA Tour events and reached number one in the world rankings.

Throughout the first decade of the 21st century, Woods completely dominated, being the top-ranked golfer in the world from August 1999 to September 2004 and again from June 2005 to October 2010. In this period, Tiger won 13 major championships, including three more Masters wins, four PGA Championships, three US Opens and three Open Championships.

The following decade brought a lot of difficult moments for Woods with a number of personal problems and countless injuries. Between August 2015 and January 2018, the American only competed in one professional tournament and dropped out of the top 1,000. After returning from his serious back injury, Woods went on to complete one of the best sporting comebacks of all time when winning his fifth Masters in 2019 at the age of 43.

Woods has been destined for greatness ever since a young age, yet the number of awards and success he has achieved is staggering.

Woods is second, only behind Jack Nicklaus, in major championship wins, as well as holding a record 82 PGA Tour wins, tied only with Sam Snead.
