Man Utd, Liverpool, Barcelona, PSG: 20 clubs with highest net spend since 2012

Casemiro signed for Man United this summer

Manchester United have made serious moves in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have signed Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez for big money, while they have also signed Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen.

On Tuesday, United announced that they have agreed a deal with Ajax for the transfer of Antony.

The Brazilian winger is set to join the Premier League giants in a deal worth £85.50m, per Transfermarkt.

Following the purchase of Antony, United will have spent £214.22m in the summer. And, with a few days left of the transfer window, that number could rise even further.

United now have the highest net spend of any club in the world over the past 10 years and it’s not even close.

1. Manchester United | £-1,118.39m

United have a net spend of £1.18 billion over the last 10 years. Over that time frame, they’ve spent nearly £300m more than PSG and Man City in second and third respectively.

The Red Devils’ net spend over the past decade is also nearly £800m more than their fierce rivals, Liverpool.

Speaking of Liverpool, their net spend of £-354.34m since 2012 is only the seventh highest of Premier League clubs. West Ham and Newcastle are among the clubs to have spent more on players in that time frame.

A notable absentee from the list is Real Madrid. Los Blancos’ net spend in the past decade is just £-114.26m, the 38th highest of any club in the world.

To have won five Champions League titles since 2012, despite not spending a great amount on players, is remarkable.
