Crystal Palace 'like' £25m star at Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira watches on

Crystal Palace target Ismailia Sarr is now expected to stay at Watford, according to The Sun journalist Tom Barclay.

Sarr’s future has been in considerable doubt throughout the summer, but Barclay reckons there’s a “strong possibility” the winger will stay with the Championship club.

What’s the latest news involving Sarr?

It’s been a topsy-turvy week for the Senegal international, who was on the verge of securing a move back to the Premier League after Aston Villa agreed a £25m fee for his services, only for the deal to collapse due to some finer details, with Midlands outfit withdrawing their interest.

But with Sarr desperate to be playing in the top-flight once again, Crystal Palace are interested in bringing the speedster to Selhurst Park.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Patrick Vieira’s side have a window of opportunity to sign Sarr, with the situation now ‘open’.

Sarr has registered one goal and one assist in three Championship appearances but wasn’t involved in their last two league games due to uncertainty surrounding his future.

Do you know this obscure Crystal Palace footballer from the 1990s?

Despite the intense speculation, Barclay has been told that there’s every chance he’ll still be a Watford player beyond next week’s transfer deadline.

What did Barclay say about Sarr?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think Palace like him, but I was told from the Watford end the other day that there’s a strong possibility that Sarr will stay.”

Do Crystal Palace need a winger?

While Vieira is targeting another wide option, the Frenchman probably still feels he has enough cover on the flanks.

Wilfried Zaha and Jordan Ayew have been his starters in the early weeks of the season, but beyond those two Palace still have several alternatives.

Michael Olise, who hasn’t started a game this season due to an injury, can come in from the right and is another option for Vieira, while Eberechi Eze and Jeffrey Schlupp are both capable of playing on the wing, although the majority of their recent work has come centrally.

Therefore, while Sarr would add impressive depth to Vieira’s squad, they certainly have enough in reserve to cope without another wide addition.
