Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Raducanu: Highest-paid tennis players in last 12 months

Forbes have recently released the 10 highest-paid tennis players in the world over the last 12 months.

Leading the list is Roger Federer with 90 million (USD), which is incredible considering he hasn’t played any tennis this year.

Federer, the athletic face of Uniqlo and Rolex, is still very much the financial king off the court.

Next on the list is Naomi Osaka at $56 million. She, like Federer, makes virtually all her money off the court as since suffering an injury she has dropped to 44 in the world rankings, but that has not impacted her brand which continues to be on the rise as she is now endorsed by over 20 major brands.

Both Williams sisters once again are on the list with Serena being positioned third ($35 million) and Venus ninth ($12 million). The sisters have dominated on and off the court financially for now the best part of two decades. With Serena coming towards the end of her career, she will likely take inspiration from her sister, who rarely makes the cut at tournaments and has since turned her attention to the lucrative financial aspect of public talking.

Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev make up the fourth, fifth and seventh spots respectively, despite being by far the leaders in on-court earnings at around $6-7 million. Meanwhile, number 10 Carlos Alcaraz makes around $5 million on-court earnings.

At six is Emma Raducanu at $21 million. Her rise from 150 in the world rankings to now making $18 million dollars in off-court endorsements from the likes of Tiffany and HSBC shows her incredible financial rise.

In eighth is Kei Nishikori, who had virtually no major tennis success since 2014, where he was a US Open finalist and is now ranked 365 in the world. Yet, like his compatriot Osaka, has been a huge marketing success.
