What the fighters are saying

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the historic fight card, both Shields and Marshall promised to become Undisputed champion:

“This fight has been a long time coming but we’re here now. On September 10 I will be the new undisputed middleweight champion of the world. “I beat you and I’ll beat you again, I’m not going to just beat you, I’m going to outbox you. I’m going to hurt you and I’m going to outbox you” Marshall said.

Shields would respond in a short manner, saying: “It means a lot to be here. She got lucky in 2012 but she won’t be lucky in 2022. I don’t hate nobody … but I really do have a huge dislike for her.”
